Gutierrez Blanks Cienfuegos, 2-0 Wednesday, July 11th , 1888 In an outstanding mound performance, Almendares Alacranes starter Hugo Gutierrez fired a complete-game shutout against the Cienfuegos Elefantes at Elefantes Ballpark today. Gutierrez was the key to the Alacranes's 2-0 win. The 29-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 5 hits and 3 walks he allowed. "5 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout." In 28 starts this season Gutierrez has rung up a 14-13 record and a 2.56 ERA.
