Holguin and Santa Clara took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Holguin Pericos picked up a win at Terreno de los Leopardos, taking down the Santa Clara Leopardos, 4-3. Starting pitcher Armando Sorto was a big reason why. At 52-34, the Pericos are currently first in the Torneo del Oriente División de Santiago.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Gilberto Suárez, the 30-year old left fielder ? Suárez stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Holguin up, 4-0. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Santa Clara manager Astolfo Hernández. "The effort was great."
