Soneros Topple Leopardos with Late Rally
Santa Clara got a terrific game from center fielder Martín Ruiz. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Santiago, 6-5. Ruiz was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Chet Albert, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-15. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 11 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Oscar Gutiérrez earned save number 1 this season.

Santiago took a 6-5 lead on Javier Sandoval's 6th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Sandoval hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Santa Clara pitcher Miguel Rodríguez shaking his head.

"We'll put that win in the can," said Sandoval, "and go after the next one."

The Soneros now have a record of 32-43.
