Rivera's 21-Game Hitting Streak Ends Saturday, July 31st , 1897 Urbano Rivera saw his 21-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Tucson Highwaymen win over Prescott at Tucson Grounds. The 24-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Prescott Lynx, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 5-2. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Rivera told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 21 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." Rivera is hitting .315 this year with 3 home runs, 51 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 130 hits in 413 at-bats, 54 walks and a .398 on-base percentage. Rivera has played in 105 games. |
