1897 OBA Batting Crown Goes to Lesage Monday, August 23rd , 1897 Pickering Bonebreakers shortstop Rich Lesage put the final touch on a fine season by winning the 1897 Ontario Baseball Association batting crown. The 23-year-old hitter was a pitcher's nightmare, hitting .371. Lesage rapped out 176 hits in 475 at-bats with 38 doubles, 9 triples and 3 home runs. In addition, he played in 117 games, scored 79 runs and batted in 103. |
