No Late-Season Magic Coming: Santa Clara Out of Playoffs Tuesday, September 21st , 1897 Postseason baseball won't be coming to Santa Clara this year. The quest for the playoffs ended for the Santa Clara Leopardos today, as they were mathematically eliminated from contention. "Not the first time I've experienced this," said Leopardos manager Astolfo Hernández, "but it never gets fun." Before this season, the Leopardos had made the playoffs 6 times in a row. They have only missed the playoffs once before in franchise history. In the last 10 seasons, the Leopardos have missed the playoffs 0 times. Santa Clara last won the Campeonato Nacional de Cuba in 1889. |
