Elefantes Melgar Chosen August's Best in TORI Wednesday, September 1st , 1897 Ramón Melgar is the latest Torneo del Oriente Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Cienfuegos starter shone on the hill repeatedly last month and finished August with a sparkling 8-1 record. In 9 starts he tossed 87 innings, posted 17 strikeouts, and put up a 3.10 ERA. On his stats sheet for the year Melgar shows a 14-8 record, 23 starts, 195.1 innings, 48 strikeouts and a 4.01 ERA. |
