Medrano Befuddles Salinas in 1-0 Arecibo Win Monday, October 4th , 1897 Before the game, José Medrano said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Parque de los Pescadores, the Lobos pitcher whitewashed the Salinas Pescadores 1-0. "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Medrano said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my sinker even when I was behind in the count." The Arecibo starter held Salinas scoreless, giving up 7 hits while registering 1 strikeout and issuing 2 walks. "We didn't have very many good at-bats," Pescadores manager Gabriel Ramos said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
