Streak Finally Over, Sandoval Held Hitless Saturday, October 2nd , 1897 The streak has been snapped. Fabián Sandoval failed to get a hit in today's game against the Comerio Guabaleros, bringing his 21-game hitting spree to an end. The 34-year-old Ciales second baseman was 0-for-5, but the Valerosos got the win and defeated the Guabaleros 13-9. "I'm not disappointed at all -- I had a great run," Sandoval said. "I got to 21 games. I got my name into an elite group with a bunch of good ballplayers. What's there to complain about?" So far this season Sandoval is hitting .386 with 7 home runs, 92 RBIs and 92 runs scored. He has 199 hits in 515 at-bats and a .452 OBP. |
