Petateros Snap Vásquez's Streak at 24 Saturday, September 18th , 1897 The Petateros stopped Etelfrido Vásquez's 24-game hitting streak today at Campo de Sabana Grande, but they couldn't stop the Isabela Gallitos, falling by the score of 8-7. Vásquez didn't get a hit for the first time in weeks, finishing 0-for-5. "It's just as well," Gallitos manager Práxedes Bello said. "We couldn't spend the whole season going out of our way not to jinx him." So far this year, Vásquez is batting .329 with 2 home runs and 45 RBIs. |
