Wichita Falls Ace Takes Hurler of the Year Friday, August 24th , 1888 The Wichita Falls Yardmen have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Domingo Munoz, this year's Western Association Hurler of the Year selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Munoz compiled a 20-12 record in 32 starts, tallied 181 strikeouts in 287.1 innings and recorded a 1.97 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .194 batting average against him. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 16. Armando Perez of the Lubbock Layabouts finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Román Ithier of the El Paso Finos finished third.
