Best Pitcher Picked by Western Association Wednesday, August 1st , 1888 There was little doubt around the Western Association that Tyler Hartsfield would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for July. Today, they made it official, naming the 31-year-old Marfa Ghost Lights starter the latest honoree. He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .204 batting average while fashioning a 1.64 ERA in 8 starts. His record for the month was 6-1 in 71.1 innings of work. In 32 starts this season Hartsfield has recorded a 17-13 record and a 2.31 ERA. |
