Alpinists Hurler Named June's Top Starter Sunday, July 1st , 1888 When Bob Emslie took the hill in June, he was in charge. The Beaumont starter never let the Eastern Association batters get a foothold against him. For his peerless performance, he came away with an impressive 7-0 record and the Pitcher of the Month award. The talented Alpinists hurler made 7 starts, worked 63 innings, permitted 49 base hits, and struck out 45 while putting up a 0.71 ERA. This season Emslie has gone 16-9 with an ERA of 1.58, posting 154 strikeouts in 227.2 innings. |
