St. Louis Won't Make Playoffs Thursday, September 2nd , 1897 St. Louis Browns manager Logan Laycock said his club came "agonizingly close" to making the playoffs. But close won't be good enough this year, as the Browns have now been officially ousted from contention. Before this season, the Browns had made the playoffs 3 times in a row. In the 23 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have missed the playoffs 17 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Browns have missed the playoffs 4 times. St. Louis last won the World Series in 1895. |
