O'Brien Goes on Rampage Against Spiders Wednesday, August 25th , 1897 The 5th time is the charm -- at least for Darby O'Brien. The left fielder for the Columbus Solons hit the milestone today against the Cleveland Spiders, helping his club to a narrow 5-4 victory. O'Brien finished with a 5-for-5 line at the plate. "O'Brien was a tough out today," Cleveland manager Robert Armstrong told the press in the postgame interview. "If it weren't for him, I think we had this one." Darby O'Brien hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
