With center fielder Avelino Giner leading the charge, the Hormigueros Peregrinos defeated the Cabo Rojo Combatientes, 9-8, at Parque de los Peregrinos. Giner was 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. With the win, Hormigueros climbs to 12-10.

With Hormigueros leading 8-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Giner hit a run-scoring single off Cabo Rojo hurler Oscar Vilchis. It was the 29th hit of the season for Giner and put his team ahead, 9-2.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Hormigueros manager Antonio Soto.
