The inspired effort of Sabana Grande catcher Fernando Duarte was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the Caguas Criollos. Duarte went 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win leaves Caguas with a record of 5-13.

The Criollos beat the Petateros with some clutch hitting. The single by Ernesto García in the bottom of the eighth is a good example. With two down, García gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he came through with the big hit.

"Credit where credit is due," said García, "this was a team win."
