Copper Lords Deal Stevedores 8-6 Setback
The Swansea Copper Lords topped the Newport Stevedores, 8-6, in Great British Base-Off action at Copper Lords Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Swansea second baseman Kane Hitchcock. Joe Stanford got credit for the win, improving to 3-10. He allowed 6 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings. The win gives the Copper Lords a record of 23-43.

Hitchcock had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 fastball from Donnell O'Brien, he banged a bases-clearing triple to left, giving the Copper Lords a 8-6 lead. It was the 5th triple of the year for Hitchcock.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Swansea manager Vincent Kempton.
