Arcadians Snag 9-6 Win
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
With right fielder Arthur Brophy leading the charge, the Cardiff Arcadians defeated the Bangor Bishops, 9-6, at Bishops Park. Brophy, who finished 5th in the GBBO in OPS with .848 last year, went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Cardiff is now 27-31, while Bangor is 26-29.
Cardiff got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Simon Evans. The center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Arcadians ahead, 9-6. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"They played a better game than we did," said Bangor skipper Lou Meyers.
