Stevedores Pick Up 4-2 Win Over Bangor
The Newport Stevedores picked up a win at Bishops Park, knocking off the Bangor Bishops, 4-2. Starting pitcher Douglas Stevens was a big reason why. Stevens went the distance for Newport. He gave up 2 runs on 10 hits. The Stevedores now own a record of 27-23.

Newport third baseman Martin Smith helped the Stevedores to the win. In the top of the second inning, the 35-year old third baseman stroked a run-scoring triple. For the game, Smith went 2 for 4 with a triple.

Stevens called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
