Stevedores Suffer 8-5 Setback
The Cardiff Arcadians weathered a fine game by Newport catcher Wayne Taylor to upend the Stevedores, 8-5, at Newport Grounds. Taylor went 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Cardiff reliever Jude Manktelow picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Downey Kennedy was tagged with the loss. At 17-24, the Arcadians claim 4th place in the All-Team Circuit Undeb Pel-fas Cymru.

The most important at-bat for Cardiff came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Stephen Wood stroked a first pitch fastball to center for a 2-run single, putting Cardiff up, 6-5.

"Good win for us," said Wood. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
