The Newport Stevedores beat the Wrexham Druids, 5-4. Newport pitcher and Balsall, England, native Downey Kennedy led the way. The third-place Stevedores have won 4 straight games.

Rufino García provided a timely hit. The Newport first baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Stevedores on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Kennedy told the Newport Observer.
