The Newport Stevedores topped the Cardiff Arcadians, 5-4, in Great British Base-Off action at Arcadians Field. The standout performance belonged to Newport pitcher and Balsall, England, native Downey Kennedy. Kennedy went the distance for Newport. He gave up 4 runs on 8 hits. Newport is now 13-16.

Jon Pierce's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant for the Stevedores. Coming to the plate with a runner on 1st and Newport trailing 2-1, the Stevedores left fielder hit a run-scoring single.
