Newport wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Downey Kennedy, falling to the Swansea Copper Lords, 5-4. Kennedy threw 9.2 innings allowing 5 runs for the losing team. The loss makes Newport 8-11.

The Copper Lords relied on catcher Cowal Brown for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

Brown said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
