Cadavers Top Mammoths, 8-7
|
The San Marcos Cadavers defeated the Waco Mammoths, 8-7, at Cadavers Park. San Marcos pinch hitter Dave Waddle had a superb performance. He went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Livio Fernández, who went 9 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 7 runs on 13 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 5-6. At 15-18, the Cadavers are currently last in the Association of Eastern Texas San Marcos Circuit.
Waddle had a timely hit for San Marcos in the bottom of the sixth. With Waco trailing 5-2, he turned a 1-2 curveball into a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 6-5, San Marcos.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said San Marcos skipper Alejandro Estrada. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
