The New Braunfels Yodelers beat the Galveston Gulls, 9-8, at Gulls Park. Steve Jones, in particular, was impressive. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. The winner was Cameron Gray, who threw 156 pitches over 8.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 8 runs on 14 hits. Picking up the save was Jamie Cunningham, his 1st.

The game turned with two out in the top of the sixth when Jones, who finished 4th in the ETXA in home runs with 7 last year, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Yodelers into the lead, 6-5.

"Good win for us," said Jones. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."

Losses have been rare for the Gulls, who are now 10-2.
