Phillies Pick Up 4-2 Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies got a stellar performance from pitcher Charlie Ferguson, who handcuffed the Brooklyn offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Eastern Park 1891-1897. The Phillies now have a mark of 77-57.
Cupid Childs, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in bases on balls with 72, aided the Philadelphia cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman was 3-4 with 3 singles.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Childs, cracking a smile.
