The Chicago Colts topped the Boston Beaneaters, 6-5, in National League action at South End Grounds 1894-1915. The game was highlighted by the performance of Chicago pitcher Allen Pitts. Pitts went the distance for Chicago. He gave up 5 runs on 6 hits. The Colts move to 84-50 with the win, while the Beaneaters drop to 81-53.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Mike Slattery was at the plate when Chicago scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Colts to go in front, 6-5.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Slattery told the Chicago Citizen.
