Beaneaters Rally to Eke Out Win
The Boston Beaneaters and St. Louis Cardinals rewarded fans hoping for nail-biter.

The Boston Beaneaters withstood an impressive performance by St. Louis right fielder Jimmy Bannon to defeat the Cardinals, 6-5, at South End Grounds 1894-1915. Bannon went 4-6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Boston is second in the National League with a record of 76-48.

In the bottom of the 12th, Bob Black had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring sacrifice fly to center off St. Louis pitcher Pink Hawley.

"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Black said.
