Beaneaters Cut Down Giants, 2-1
Boston Beaneaters starter Jim Whitney was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the New York Giants, 2-1. The Beaneaters sit in second place in the National League with a record of 60-39.

Tied up with the Giants in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Beaneaters got a boost from left fielder Fred Tenney. With a runner on 3rd, Tenney saw a 1-1 fastball from Jesse Burkett and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Boston on top, 2-1.

"Feels good to get the job done," Whitney said after the game.
