Charlie Ferguson led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 1-0 shutout victory over the New York Giants at National League Park 1895-1909 today.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Ferguson recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Ferguson yielded 7 hits and had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," New York manager Chris Petty said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

For the season Ferguson has logged 17 wins and 9 losses and struck out 65 batters in 237.2 innings while compiling a 3.22 ERA.
