The Boston Beaneaters picked up a win at South End Grounds 1894-1915, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Jim Whitney, who played a pivotal role in the win. Boston is now 35-28.

In the bottom of the fifth, Dan McGann delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Boston first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Beaneaters in front, 5-3.

McGann called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
