Cincinnati Reds starter Bill Paquet pitched a strong game against the St. Louis Cardinals at League Park II 1894-1901, leading the Reds to victory, 7-5. Pete Rex was credited with the save for Cincinnati, his 2nd of the season. Cincinnati is now 29-21, St. Louis 26-24.

Bryan Dowler contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the third. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat that helped Cincinnati get the win.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Dowler told the Cincinnati Times. "But we take nothing for granted."
