Jimmy Collins was at the head of a Boston hit parade today at Exposition Park 1891-1908. The third baseman went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Beaneaters to a 20-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Collins told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Pirates skipper Bill Leisz said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Jimmy Collins singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

This season Collins has banged out 62 hits in 179 at-bats for a .346 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .392 pace and his totals also include 28 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
