The Inverness Thistles topped the Glasgow Shipwrights, 5-2, in Great British Base-Off action at Glasgow Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Inverness pitcher and Rhu & Shandon, Scotland, native Lewis Hopkins. The win gives the Thistles a record of 4-4.

Runs were scarce in this one. So, Labán de Metrio's at-bat in the top of the ninth was vitally important. With no one out, the Inverness shortstop hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

de Metrio said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
