The Newport Stevedores topped the Swansea Copper Lords, 10-5, with second baseman Nathan Sutherland playing a big role. Sutherland was 3-5 with a triple and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Stevedores in the win. Swansea drops to 1-3.

Making an impact for the home team was Downey Kennedy. In the bottom of the sixth, the 1894 Longbowman's Medal winner had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 5-3, Stevedores.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Newport skipper Diego Barrios.
