Claymores Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
The Edinburgh Claymores opened their 1897 season with a triumph over the Perth Caber Tossers at Claymores Park. The final score was 10-2. Edinburgh second baseman William Milne had a big game. He went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The winning pitcher was Lewis Duncan. His record is now 1-0. The right-hander went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits for the Claymores.
