The Coamo Maratonistas defeated the San Juan Metropolitanos, 7-6, at Terreno de los Maratonistas. Coamo first baseman Medardo Ayala had a superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2. Fermín Martínez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-1.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the 11th, an error by the Metropolitanos allowed the Maratonistas to score the winning run.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Ayala said in his postgame press conference.

Coamo is now 60-61. San Juan is 71-51.
