5-Hit Barrage by Michaca
|
Marcos Michaca was at the head of a Matanzas Henequeneros hit parade today at Estadio de Pinar del Río. The 29-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Pinar del Rio Guajiros that marched off with the 8-5 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Henequeneros skipper Abel Chacón following the game. "Marcos did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Michaca did more than fine, dominating the Guajiros at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging right fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Marcos Michaca singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Michaca is hitting .301 this year with 3 home runs and 27 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .362, 10 walks and scored 24 times.
