Though the conditions were not ideal, the Cidra Palomas and Santa Isabel Potros came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Cidra Palomas overcame a good performance by Santa Isabel catcher Isidro Capellán to knock off Santa Isabel, 9-7, at Estadio de Santa Isabel. Capellán was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 4 times. Luis Vásquez, the winner, goes to 21-9. He allowed 7 runs on 13 hits, with 3 walks and no strikeouts over 9 innings.
Cidra used the timely hitting of Ramón Terrero to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Palomas on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Good win for us," said Terrero. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
At 66-35, the Palomas find themselves in first place in the Liga Betances Cordillera Este.
