The Boston Reds picked up a win at Union Park, knocking off the Baltimore Orioles, 7-3. Starting pitcher George Meakim played a key role in the triumph. Meakim went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 19-10. The 4th-place Reds go to 53-42.

The Orioles had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Reds going into the top of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the top prospect Kiernan Stevens came to the plate. Stevens hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-2 slider from Baltimore hurler Jamie Hunt. It was Stevens's 21st double of the year.

Meakim pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
