Pete Browning was bubbling over with joy, celebrating his 2500th hit in the Boston 6-2 victory over the Colonels at Congress Street Grounds.

The 36-year-old second baseman achieved that milestone with 1 hit in 4 at-bats to join the exclusive 2500-hit club.

His manager said, "Pete plays the same every day and every inning -- with all his heart. That's why he's such a special player."

In his career Browning has played in 1995 games with a .340 batting average. Among his 2500 hits are 502 doubles, 132 triples and 112 home runs. He also has scored 1591 runs and driven in 1261 runs.
