The Jayuya Cerros topped the Ponce Leones, 13-7, the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Julio Vega. On the day, Vega was 3-5 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Cerros. Jayuya currently is in second place in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Oeste at 27-23.

Vega contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Jayuya in the top of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Vega took a fastball from Induciomaro Villa and stroked the double to left. His 8th double of the season allowed the Cerros to leap in front, 4-3.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Vega said. "We did a good job of that today."
