The Utuado Montaneses topped the Quebradillas Piratas, 8-7, in 13 innings. Utuado second baseman Teócrito Rubio, in particular, was impressive. He went 4 for 6 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Utuado is now 17-26, Quebradillas 20-22.

Utuado used the timely hitting of Hermógenes Retaña to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Montaneses on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Montaneses manager Demetrio Bustamante wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
