Senators Rally to Eke Out Win
The performance of Bill Hassamaer proved critical in helping Washington beat Cleveland, 7-6. The Senators first baseman went 4 for 6 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Charlie Geggus picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 8-8. Cy Young was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Ed Mars, his 1st.

Hassamaer had a game-changing double in the top of the 11th. On a 1-1 curveball from Cy Young, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Senators a 7-6 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Hassamaer.

"There's no quit in this team," said Senators manager Pony Sager.

The Senators raised their record to 32-22.
