The Boston Reds picked up a win at Congress Street Grounds, knocking off the St. Louis Browns, 2-1. Starting pitcher Scott Stratton played a key role in the triumph. Boston has now won 5 games in a row.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Charlie Hamburg had a chance to be the hero. St. Louis pitcher Nat Hudson had other ideas. But with no outs, Hamburg hit a run-scoring single. The Reds had themselves a dramatic win.

"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said Hamburg. "Mission accomplished."
