2-1 Loss Extends Juncos Skid
The Rio Grande Cotorras and Juncos Valencianos completed their game despite the rain.

Rio Grande Cotorras starter Eleuterio Vásquez turned in a top-notch performance against the Juncos Valencianos at Coliseo de los Valencianos. The result was a win for the Cotorras, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Vásquez, now 5-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2.

Rio Grande used a well-timed hit by Martín Alvarado to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cotorras ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Juan Pérez, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."

The Cotorras' win now puts them at 14-19.
