International Series Game 1 Victory for Oakley and Belfast
The Belfast Bards powered past the visiting Glasgow Shipwrights, 3-2, in the opener of the International Series at Bards Park today. Belfast starting pitcher Alistair Oakley threw 9.0 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Bards now lead the series 1-0.

Bannon Quinton, who led the GBBO in home runs with 9 last year, helped out the Belfast cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Belfast manager Jimmy Wood. "It's usually not just one thing."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bards Park in Belfast.
