Markham third baseman Juan Álvarez was a significant contributor in his team's 8-7 triumph over the Sudbury Meteors. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for Markham. Markham reliever Sean Gallant got the win, raising his record to 7-4. Tim Alldritt was tagged with the loss. Markham is now 48-63. Sudbury is 53-58.

Darío Moreno was the walk-off hero for Markham. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Wheelwrights second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Álvarez. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
