Markham first baseman Porter Balaski made his presence felt in the 6-3 Wheelwrights triumph over the Sudbury Meteors. Balaski went 3-4 with a triple and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. With the win, Markham goes to 47-63, while the Meteors fall to 53-57.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Bolan Austin came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sudbury pitcher Geoff McAfee, he hit a 1-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Markham on top, 4-3.

"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Balaski told the Markham Citizen.
